For correction of uneven gum margins, excessive gingival display or gummy smile, or uneven teeth alignment. Correction of gums, as well as teeth, can be followed by a crown or veneer placement. Even dark colored or pigmented gums can be treated using lasers or surgery by a procedure called gingival depigmentation.
2.CROWN LENGTHENING PROCEDURES
To increase the height of the tooth crown by surgically reducing the gums and bone surrounding the tooth. This enables the increased tooth height to receive a full-coverage crown with better retention. Generally, more height is required for a full ceramic or porcelain fused to metal crown, or metal-free crowns.
3.TECHNIQUES TO INCREASE THE WIDTH OF THE ATTACHED GINGIVITIS
Apically displaced flap, free gingival graft, connective tissue graft harvested from the palate and sutured on the recipient site help to increase the width of keratinized gingiva for better maintenance of gum health.
4. ROOT COVERAGE PROCEDURE
For covering the exposed tooth surface due to gum recession. The patient generally complains of sensitive teeth, difficulty in brushing, and an unpleasant appearance.
Generally free gingival graft, connective tissue graft harvested from the palate and sutured on the recipient site, pedicle grafts, coronally advanced flaps, double papilla flap, tunneling technique, etc help in root coverage for single or multiple teeth.
